Frequently Asked Questions ..
Always useful these FAQs aren’t they? As questions and queries get asked we will keep adding to this ..
Can I hire Screen Porty to show a film?
That’s a lovely idea, thank you for thinking of us!
We are often approached to show documentaries/features that people feel should reach our local audience. We absolutely agree that films are a fantastic way of engaging the public with issues that concern us. Screen Porty will always welcome these enquiries but please don’t be disappointed if we are not able to include it in our current programme. We plan our programme months in advance in order to get all the necessary permissions. The process of putting on any Screen Porty film is a time-consuming business and relies on the good will of our dedicated volunteers, engaging our audience, the support of The Wash House plus the financial wherewithal to pay for licences, venue and equipment hire – which together can be substantial!
All that said, please get in touch with Screen Porty if you have an idea – if we’re not able to screen your chosen feature in our future programme we can certainly advise you on whats needed.
Can I suggest a film for you to screen?
Absolutely!
We show between 8 - 10 films in a yearly programme which runs from September to June. Last year we had two films chosen by community vote, these were 5 films chosen by Screen Porty. This year we aim for the shortlist to be by community suggestion so please do email us your film suggestions and we will add it to the list.
Can I reserve seats?
Tickets are available on the door. If however you need assistance and a reserved seat would support you coming please do get in touch and we can reserve for you. Also, if you are coming from afar and want to reserve then also do get in touch.
